CVX Dispatches: Looking Outward in a Complex World

“CVX” stands for Convexa lens that curves outward to capture a wider view. It is also a nod to Civics—the lost art of living together in a republic.

CVX Dispatches is where systems thinking meets moral clarity.

About Me

I’m Jon Lidz and welcome. My career defies easy categorization. I’ve been an armored cavalry and civil affairs officer for the United States Army, worked on Wall Street, ran a family business, consulted for private equity firms, failed as a restaurateur, and have led global transformation projects for Oracle/NetSuite, Workday, and Grant Thornton. This breadth of experience across military, finance, operations, and technology gives me a unique perspective on why some institutions thrive while others struggle and fail.

I studied political science at Tufts University and holds an MBA from Fordham. This newsletter, CVX Dispatches, shares ideas about the organizational dynamics that enable success and contribute to failure. I have consulted for Fortune 500 and smaller companies on technology implementation and change management.

I am the father of three adult children, and live in Princeton with my wife of 30 years and our two pugs, Norman and Lucy.

What you’ll get:
• Weekly dispatches that connect dots across systems most people view in isolation
• Analysis grounded in history and systems thinking—not partisan talking points
• Perspective shaped by experience across very different arenas

I write for people who want a wider view—who suspect the problems we can’t solve might be connected in ways no one’s talking about.

If you like this, share it with a friend. If you hate it, share it with two. Let’s build a place where we can wrestle with big ideas with civility and depth.
